Dorothy Mosby Appointed Dean of the Faculty at Mount Holyoke College

Dorothy E. Mosby was appointed interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She will take on her new role on August 1.

“I am very excited to take on this role at the college,” said Dr. Mosby. “What excites me is to be working with my faculty colleagues in a different way, to be able to have this dynamic and inspiring curriculum and that we need Mount Holyoke College in the world today.”

Dr. Mosby joined the Mount Holyoke community in 2003. She was professor of Spanish and was appointed associate dean of faculty in 2016. She has also served as a deputy coordinator for the Title IX compliance programs.

Prior to joining the faculty at Mount Holyoke College, Dr. Mosby taught in the department of Spanish and Portuguese at Ohio State University. Her research focuses on Afro-Hispanic, Caribbean identity and African diaspora literature and culture. Dr. Mosby’s most recent book is Quince Duncan. Writing Afro-Costa Rican and Caribbean Identity (University of Alabama Press, 2014).

Dr. Mosby is a graduate of Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri.
