New Administrative Appointments in Higher Education for Five African Americans

Shakenna K. Williams has been named director of the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Global Initiative at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She was deputy academic director and lead faculty director of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program at Babson.

Dr. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and investments from Babson College, an MBA in integrated marketing and communications from Oklahoma City University, and a doctorate from Capella University.

Fatima Rodriguez Johnson was appointed the inaugural associate dean for diversity and inclusion at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. She was assistant dean of students for multicultural programs and services at the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Johnson is a graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia, where she majored in sociology. She earned a master’s degree in higher education administration at Canisius College.

DeIrish Moss was appointed captain in the police force of Florida International University in Miami. He will oversee day shift patrol operations and serve as the department’s public information officer.

Moss was chief of police in Ferguson, Missouri. Earlier, her served for 30 years in the Miami Police Department.

Wendy Wilson has been named vice president of university relations and chief of staff at Albany State University in Georgia. She was executive director of the university’s Cordele Center.

Dr. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bluefield College in Virginia, a master’s degree in human resources administration from Central Michigan University, and a doctorate in curriculum and leadership from Columbus State University in Georgia.

Dwala Toombs has been named director for the Mid-Atlantic Higher Education Recruitment Consortium and diversity outreach for George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She previously worked in the human resources and payroll offices at the university

Toombs is a graduate of Westminster College in Pennsylvania where she majored in business administration, management, and operations.
