Three African Americans in New Administrative Roles in Higher Education

Constance Mallette was promoted to vice chancellor for finance and administration at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. Since 2015, she has served as associate vice chancellor for finance and administration at the university. Earlier, she was assistant vice president for finance for the University of North Carolina System.

Mallette is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, where she majored in finance. She holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Winston-Salem State University.

Rotimi Ariyo is the new director of student activities and director of the student center at Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida. He was program advisor for the Illini Union Board at the University of Illinois. Earlier, Ariyo served as associate director of University Center programs at Western Carolina University.

Ariyo is a graduate of Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, where he majored in psychology. He holds a master’s degree in college student personnel from Western Carolina University.

Harold Tate was appointed vice president for facilities and construction at Tuskegee University in Alabama. He was director of real estate development for the Montgomery Housing Authority. Earlier in his career, Tate was vice president for buildings and grounds at Alabama State University in Montgomery.

Tate holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of architecture degree from Tuskegee University.
