Delaware State University Partners With Brookdale Community College in New Jersey

Delaware State University, the historically Black educational institution in Dover has entered into a partnership agreement with Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey. Located about 150 miles northeast of Dover, Brookdale Community College enrolls more than 13,000 students. African Americans make up 9 percent of the student body.

Under the agreement, students who earn a social science associate’s degree at Brookdale and who meet minimum grade requirements will be offered guaranteed transfer admission into bachelor’s degree programs at Delaware State. In addition, students who earn associate’s degrees at the Asbury Park Dream Academy and the Poseidon Early College High School, schools that operate in conjunction with Brookdale, will also be offered guaranteed admission to Delaware State. Students at these pre-college high schools can earn enough credits for an associate’s degree by the time they graduate from high school.

David Stout, interim president of Brookdale Community College stated that “we are very proud and excited to partner with Delaware State University and provide new opportunities for local students to transfer and succeed at one of the nation’s premier universities. This agreement will benefit local high school students and college students alike, opening new doors for them and streamlining their path toward a valuable four-year degree.”
