Elizabeth City State University Partners With a Community College for Criminal Justice Students

ecsu_seal_goldElizabeth City State University, the historically Black educational institution in North Carolina, has entered into a partnership with Beaufort County Community College. The agreement will allow students attending the community college to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice through Elizabeth City State University.

Beaufort County Community College in Washington, North Carolina, enrolls more than 1,800 students. African Americans make up 28 percent of the student body.

Under the agreement, students in the criminal justice associate’s degree program at the community college can use those credits to continue on to a four-year degree at Elizabeth City State University.

Thomas Conway, chancellor of Elizabeth City State University, noted that “our goal is to expand our relationship with BCCC into other curricula areas after demonstrating the effectiveness of this initiative” in criminal justice.
