North Carolina A&T State University Partners With the Elon University School of Law

ncatsuNorth Carolina A&T State University, the historically Black educational institution in Greensboro, has entered into an agreement with the Elon University School of Law, located in downtown Greensboro. The main campus of the university is located in Elon, about 20 miles east of Greensboro.

ElonLawUnder the new Accelerated Pathway to Law School Program (APLS) partnership, students will spend their first three years at North Carolina A&T, studying a pre-law curriculum. They will spend the next two and a half years at Elon’s law school. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from North Carolina A&T State University and a juris doctorate from Elon University School of Law.

At first, admission into the accelerated law degree program will be limited to at most nine students. Andy Haile, associate professor of law and associate dean for academic affairs at Elon, stated that “students participating in the APLS program will benefit from a strategic and innovative approach in higher education that dramatically reduces the time and costs associated with becoming a lawyer, while enriching learning through recurring and immersive practical experiences. We look forward to deepening our partnership with N.C. A&T and continuing to welcome N.C. A&T students into the Elon Law community.”
