Simmons College Partners With the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky

Simmons-CollegeAlthough originally founded in 1879, Simmons College of Kentucky in Louisville was designated for the first time as a historically Black college in 2015 after it received accreditation a year earlier from the Association for Biblical Education.

Now the nation’s newest HBCU has entered into an agreement with the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky to offer graduate education programs in Louisville’s West End. The seminary is located 70 miles from Louisville in Georgetown, Kentucky. The two educational institutions have agreed to find a way to offer graduate educational opportunities for Black students in Louisville.

Some possibilities include offering seminary courses on the Louisville campuses, recruiting Simmons College graduates to enroll at the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky campus, a joint sponsorship of a lecture series, and faculty exchanges.
