Florida A&M University to Expand Its Reach in Kenya

Florida A&M University in Tallahassee has signed a partnership agreement with Cornell Rasanga Amoth, the governor of Siaya County in Kenya. The agreement calls for cooperation on educational and research projects, opportunities for Kenyan students to study at Florida A&M, and provides a roadmap for the university to expands its presence in Kenya. Florida A&M students will be able to study abroad and participate in research in Kenya.

marcellaDavidMarcella David, provost at Florida A&M University, stated that “the agreement is a critical piece of President Elmira Mangum’s vision to have FAMU become a best-in-class, land-grant doctoral research university with an international presence, and to provide opportunities for our students to obtain a global education that is vital for success in the 21st century global economy.”

Professor David came to Florida A&M earlier this year. previously, she was associate dean and professor of law and international studies at The University of Iowa. Provost David earned her bachelor’s degree in computer and systems engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
