New Appointments or Promotions for Black Faculty Members

mooreTirin Moore was promoted to professor of neurobiology at Stanford University in California. He has served on the Stanford faculty since 2003.

Dr. Moore graduated summa cum laude from California State University, Chico in just three years. He holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Princeton University in New Jersey.

faulkEmma A. Faulk, an assistant professor of business and marketing at Alabama State University in Montgomery, is the new national president of Pi Omega Pi National Business Teacher Education Honor Society.

Faulk is a professional registered parliamentarian. She has been on the faculty at Alabama State University since 1975.

Jennifer_F_HamerJennifer F. Hamer was named chair of the department of American studies at the University of Kansas. Professor Hamer joined the faculty at the university in 2012. Her most recent book is Abandoned in the Heartland: Work, Family, and Living in East St. Louis (University of California Press, 2011).

Dr. Hamer is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio. She earned a master’s degree at Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Texas.

harrisTrudier Harris was named a University Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Professor Harris joined the English department faculty at the university in 2010. Previously, she taught at Emory University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Professor Harris is the author of 10 books including Martin Luther King Jr., Heroism, and African American Literature (University of Alabama Press, 2014).

Professor Harris is a graduate of Stillman College in Alabama. She holds a master’s degree in English and a Ph.D. in American literature and folklore from Ohio State University.

Dr. Harris had a long career in higher education leadership, serving as interim or permanent president of five historically Black institutions: Paine College, Texas Southern University, Alabama State University, Fort Valley State University, and Texas College.
