North Carolina A&T Partners With Other Area Schools for Nurse Training Center

ncatsuNorth Carolina A&T State University, the historically Black educational institution in Greensboro, is partnering with the nursing programs at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Guilford Technical Community College. The three schools and Cone Health are building the Union Square Campus in downtown Greensboro that will be shared with the other participants. The land for the new campus was donated by the city.

The new campus will include classrooms, offices, an auditorium and laboratories. Cost efficiencies will occur as some of the available space will be shared with the other institutions. More than 81,000 square feet of the 103,000 square-foot building will be shared space.

The state-of-the-art nursing simulation laboratory would be too expensive for any one of the participants but sharing the space made it possible for all three educational institutions to have access to this modern teaching facility. The simulation center includes computer-operated life-like mannequins that can simulate a wide variety of symptoms. The center will include mock operating rooms, intensive care units, and labor/delivery rooms for simulations that will give nursing students hands-on training.
