Association for Black Culture Centers Moving to Northern Illinois University

The Association for Black Culture Centers has found a new home on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. The Center has been located at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. The association represents African American, Latino, Native American, and Asian American culture centers at colleges and universities throughout the United States.

fhordThe Association for Black Culture Centers is directed by Fred L. Hord, who is a professor and chair of Africana studies at Knox College. Under the agreement, Dr. Hord will join the faculty at Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Hord holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University and earned a Ph.D. in Black studies from the Union Graduate School. He is the author of Into Africa, Being Black: New and Selected Poems (Third World Press, 2013).
