Royal Walker Jr. Appointed by President Obama to the National Council on Disability

Royal P. Walker Jr., executive director of the Institute for Disability Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, has been appointed by President Obama to serve on the National Council on Disability. The council is an independent federal agency that makes policy recommendations on disability issues to the President, Congress, and other federal organizations.

Walker will serve a four-year term on the council. He is a past president of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities.

Walker is a graduate of Jackson State University in Mississippi and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston.
