Karl Reid to Lead the National Society of Black Engineers

The National Society of Black Engineers, based in Alexandria, Virginia, has announced that Karl W. Reid will become executive director on June 2. Dr. Reid has been serving as senior vice president of research, innovation, and member college engagement for the United Negro College Fund.

Before joining the UNCF, Dr. Reid was associate dean for undergraduate education and director of the Office of Minority Education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Earlier in his career, Dr Reid was executive director of engineering outreach programs for the School of Engineering at MIT.

Dr. Reid holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in materials science and engineering from MIT. He earned a doctorate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
