Howard University Graduate to Lead the American Bar Association

Paulette Brown was chosen as president-elect of the American Bar Association. She will become president-elect in August and president of the ABA in August 2015. The American Bar Association has more than 400,000 members and sets standards for lawyers, judges, and law schools throughout the nation.

Brown is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She enrolled at Howard University in Washington, D.C., with the goal of becoming a social worker. While at Howard she changed her career path and went on to earn a law degree at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. She is partner in the New Jersey law firm Edwards Wildman Palmer where she specializes in labor and employment law. She is also the chief diversity officer for the law firm.

Brown will be the first African American woman to lead the ABA.
