Mississippi Valley State University Names Two Women to Academic Affairs Posts

Dr.BlandConstance Bland was appointed vice president of academic affairs at Mississippi Valley State University. Dr. Bland has served on the faculty at the university since 1991 and in 1999 was appointed chair of the department of mathematics, computer, and information sciences.

Dr. Bland holds two bachelor’s degrees, a master’s degree in computer science, and a Ph.D. in computer engineering, all from the University of Mississippi.

Dr.GoldenKathie Stromile Golden was named associate vice president for academic affairs. She has been on the faculty at the university for 13 years and most recently served as a professor of political science and director of international programs at the university. Earlier in her career, she taught at Clark Atlanta University, the University of Colorado, Texas Tech University, Arkansas State University, and the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Stromile Golden holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She earned a Ph.D. in political science at the University of Kentucky.
