Florida A&M University Student Newspaper Ends Print Run

famu-logoThe Famuan, the student newspaper at historically Black Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, has halted the production of its print edition. The newspaper is now available only online.

The newspaper cut back from two weekly print editions to one per week last fall. Now that once weekly edition is history. The Famuan will print occasional editions for homecoming weekend, graduation, and other special events.

The Famuan made the decision to go all-digital to save operating costs in printing and distribution. Many major city daily newspapers no longer print seven days a week and urge their subscribers to visit their websites on other days. In 2008, the Christian Science Monitor discontinued its daily print edition but maintains a significant online operation. In 2010, The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education made the same decision to publish exclusively online.
