Virginia State University Looks to Address Campus Safety

vsu-logoAfter a series of incidents on campus including a stabbing and the shooting death of a student at an apartment near campus, the Virginia State University board of visitors held a special meeting to address campus safety issues.

The board decided to hire an outside consultant to advise them on what can be done to ensure student safety.

The week before, Virginia State University hired a Washington attorney to conduct an investigation into an incident in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There, the quarterback of the Winston-Salem State University football team allegedly was assaulted. The incident led to the arrest of one Virginia State student and the cancellation of the CIAA football championship game.
