In Memoriam: Elbert Bernard White, 1945-2013

Bernard White, SITEBernard White, the former associate dean for undergraduate studies in the Volgenau School of Engineering at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, died late last month at the age of 68. He joined the faculty at the university in 1989 and retired in June 2011.

A native of Holly Springs, Mississippi, Dr. White was a graduate of Mississippi Industrial College, a historically Black institution in Holly Springs that closed in 1982. He held master’s degrees from the University of Illinois and Howard University and earned a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia.
