A Military Milestone for a Claflin University Trustee

calvin-elamCalvin H. Elam, a member of the board of trustees of Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, has become the first African American general in the South Carolina Air National Guard. Elam is CEO of the Elam Financial Group,. a wealth management and financial planning firm in Columbia, South Carolina.

General Elam also serves as chair of the Claflin board of trustees’ budget and finance committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from the University of South Carolina and is a graduate of the Air National Guard’s Academy of Military Science.
