When he takes office on December 1, Dr. Grant will be the first person of color to lead the university. Since January 2021, Dr. Grant has served as chancellor of Pennsylvania State University-Berks. Earlier, he was dean of the College of Community and Public Service at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.

Sherine O. Obare is the former associate vice president for research and a professor of chemistry at Western Michigan University. Dr. Obare also serves as a research leader fellow at the American Public and Land-Grant University Council on Research.

In Memorian: Charles Warfield, 1939-2016

Dr. Warfield joined the faculty at Western Michigan University in 1972 and retired in 2013. Upon his retirement, he was named associate professor emeritus of educational leadership, research and technology. He was also president of the Kalamazoo chapter of the NAACP.

In Memoriam: Lonnie E. Duncan, 1967-2013

Dr. Duncan was an associate professor of counseling education and counseling psychology at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. He also served as the co-training director of the university's counseling psychology doctoral program.

Walter L. Burt to Lead the College of Education at Western Michigan University

Dr. Burt has been on the faculty at the university since 2004 and presently serves as an associate professor of educational leadership, research, and technology.
