Dr. Hill joined the faculty at the University of San Francisco in 1970 as an instructor in English and ethnic studies. Dr. Hill retired as a full professor in 2015 after teaching at the University of San Francisco for 45 years.

Dr. Oparah has served on the faculty at Mills College in Oakland, California, for more than 20 years. In 2017, she was named provost and dean of the faculty at Mills College. She will assume her new duties at the University of San Francisco on July 12.
According to the study, underrepresented minority groups comprise approximately 28 percent of the student body at U.S. business schools but only 7.5 percent of the faculty. Blacks make up just 4.1 percent of the faculty. The authors suggest that the search process is a major factor.
Tamara F. Lawson has been named dean of St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami Gardens, Florida. Professor Lawson, who had been serving as interim dean since June 2018, earlier was associate dean for academic affairs from 2017 to June 2018.
Dr. Moore was selected from among 47 applicants for the job as president of Cañada College. She had been serving as interim vice chancellor of educational services and planning for the San Mateo County Community College District.
Ronald E. Wheeler is director of the Fineman and Pappas Law Libraries and associate professor of law and legal research at Boston University. In July, he will become the first African American man to lead the American Association of Law Libraries.
Michael Lee Owens was reelected chair of the governing board of the Urban Affairs Association, James Lance Taylor was promoted at the University of San Francisco, and Quito Swan of Howard University was named an NEH University Teachers Fellow.
