University of Richmond Changes Name of Its Law School Due to Benefactor’s Ties to Slavery
The T.C. Williams School of Law will now be known as the University of Richmond School of Law. Williams was a student and later a trustee of the then-named Richmond College. He personally enslaved three individuals and his business enslaved dozens more.

Carey Latimore was a Baptist minister and an associate professor of history at Trinity University in San Antonio. Dr. Latimore joined the Trinity University community in 2004. Ronald A. Crutcher became the tenth president of the University of Richmond in 2015. He also serves as a professor of music at the university. When a successor takes the helm, Dr. Crutcher will take a sabbatical and then return to the faculty as a university professor.

Police at the University of Richmond in Virginia reported that three incidents of racism occurred on campus late last month. In one incident, an African American student had a racial slur written on the name tag on her dormitory room door.

Dr. Crutcher currently is the co-chair of Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP). From 2004 to 2014, Dr. Crutcher was president of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.
