Three African Americans Appointed to Positions Relating to Diversity in Higher Education

Barbara J. Lawrence has been named vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. Michael Snowden is the new chief diversity officer for Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville and Lynette Yarger is the associate dean of equity and inclusion for the Schreyer Honors College at Pennsylvania State University.

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Names Its Next Chancellor

Dr. Thomas Gibson has been serving since 2016 as vice president for student affairs and vice provost at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Previously, he was associate vice president of student affairs at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Dr. Gibson will take on new duties in January.

The new deans are Anthony R. Bowrin at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, Ophelie Rowe-Allen at the University of New Haven in Connecticut, Ulysses Taylor at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, and Michele Cruse at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

John Blackshear has been named dean of students and associate vice president of student affairs at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and Ophelie Rowe-Allen was appointed dean of students and chief student affairs officer at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
