Kenesha Starling is the First African American Editor-in-Chief of the South Texas Law Review

Starling, the first Black editor-in-chief in of the law review in the 96-year history of the law school, is currently completing her final year of law school at South Texas. During her time in law school, she has had to balance a full-time job at a federal agency, her educational pursuits, and motherhood.

Ira Kincade Blake Selected as the Next President of the University of Houston-Clear Lake

Since 2009, Dr. Blake has been serving as senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. When she takes office on August 1, she will become the first woman to serve as president of the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Anthony L. Jenkins Appointed President of West Virginia State University

West Virginia State University is a historically Black university but today only 10 percent of the 2,800-member undergraduate student body is Black. Dr. Jenkins has been serving as senior associate vice president at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

In Memoriam: Bettye Lois Grigsby, 1966-2016

Dr. Grigsby was an associate professor of educational leadership at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She also served as chair of the department of leadership and policy analysis and was chair of the doctorate of education in educational leadership program at the university.
