Cherisse Jones-Branch has been named dean of the Graduate School at Arkansas State University. Justin Rose was appointed dean of faculty recruitment, retention, and diversity at Rhodes College in Memphis and Jason Geary will be the new dean of the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Dr. Bassard currently serves as a professor of English and interim senior associate dean for faculty affairs in the College of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University. Earlier, she was senior vice provost for faculty affairs at VCU.
The new deans are Allyson L. Watson at Florida A&M University, Stephanie G. Adams at the University of Texas at Dallas, Alicia Golston at Rhodes College in Memphis, and Kristina Odejimi at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.

Students in a history class at Rhodes College in Memphis spent the fall semester researching the slave trade that occurred in the city prior to the Civil War. As a result of this research, a new historically marker will be erected where Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest sold slaves.
