Maya Wiley was appointed to a named chair at the New School. Rhea Ballard-Thrower was named director of University Libraries at Howard University. Rick Lowe and Anindo Marshall are joining the faculties at the University of Houston and the University of Southern California, respectively.
On February 6, 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at the New School in New York City. Until recently, it was believed that there was no recording of the speech. But a tape of the speech was recently found in the archives of the student radio station at Amherst College in Massachusetts.
Taking on new faculty roles are Yosvany Terry at Harvard University, Darrick Hamilton at The New School, Paula T. Hammond at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Eugene T. Parker III at the University of Kansas.
DePass has been serving as assistant administrator for international and tribal affairs at the Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to joining the EPA, DePass was a program officer for the Ford Foundation.
