A New Academic Partner for Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas

Students from Jarvis Christian College will be able to transfer to selected bachelor's degree programs at the University of Texas at Tyler. Also, University of Texas at Tyler students will be able to pursue majors at Jarvis Christian College that are not offered at the university.

In Memoriam: William M. Pender Sr., 1922-2017

Dr. Pender was hired in 1965 as director of guidance and teacher training at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He was a professor of education and later served as vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Jarvis Christian College to Open a Satellite Campus in Dallas

Jarvis Christian College, the historically Black educational institution in Hawkins, Texas, has announced that it will open an "instructional site" in Dallas, about 100 miles to the west of its main campus. Classes will begin at the new location this coming fall.

The new museum will feature the Rodney Lamar Atkins Collection that includes items from Negro League baseball, figurines, rare photos, farming equipment, and kitchen utensils relating to African American life in the early twentieth century.

Jarvis Christian College Extends Its President’s Contract for Five Years

The historically Black college, located east of Dallas in Hawkins, Texas, has extended the contract of President Lester C. Newman through June 2020. Dr. Newman became the 12th president of the college three years ago.
