Jackson State University Chosen to Participate in Battery Workforce Challenge Program

The Battery Workforce Competition Program will provide students the opportunity to design and build their own electric vehicle battery. Jackson State University was the only historically Black school chosen to participate in the program.

Dr. Tyrone Jackson has been serving as vice president of administrative services at the Utica campus of Hinds Community College. Previously, he was associate vice president for student services at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston.

Tyrone Jackson Appointed President of Mississippi Delta Community College

Dr. Jackson currently serves as vice president for the Utica campus and district dean of students of Hinds Community College in Mississippi. Earlier in his career, Dr. Jackson held a number of administrative posts at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Mississippi Valley State University Partners With Hinds Community College

Under the agreement student who graduate with an associate's degree from Hinds Community College in specified STEM fields will be able to transfer seamlessly to Mississippi Valley State University. African Americans make up 55 percent of the student body at the community college.
