Since 2020, Dr. Smith has served as campus CEO of Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Earlier, he served as interim president of Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, following 13 years as that institution’s provost.
Dr. Kelvin Adams retired in December 2022 from his duties as superintendent of the St. Louis Public School District, a position he held since 2008. Prior to serving as superintendent, he was the associate dean of the College of Education at Southern University in New Orleans.
Historically Black Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis has announced the creation of a new academic college focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. Harvey R. Fields, Jr., who has been serving as the associate dean for student success at Washington University in St. Louis, has been named dean of the College of STEM.
Frederick Evans was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at South Carolina State University and Dimetri Horner is the new provost and vice president of academic affairs at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis.
Stacy Gee Hollins was appointed interim associate provost of academic affairs at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis and Getiria Onsongo was granted tenure at Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota. Candis Watts Smith was named interim vice provost for undergraduate education at Duke University and Terrell Brown was appointed director of the master of social work degree program at Jackson State University in Mississippi.

Dr. Colllins Smith has been serving as interim president since last summer. Before being named interim president, Dr. Collins Smith had been serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the university. She has been on the staff at the university since 2010.

Dr. Givens served as president of Harris Stowe for 32 years until his retirement in 2011. Under his leadership, the university tripled its student population, grew from one building with only one degree to eight facilities and 14-degree programs.
Dr. Collins Smith is serving as interim president of the historically Black university in St Louis. She had been serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs. Most recently, Dr. Bradford has been serving as senior vice president for business affairs at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. Earlier, he served for 16 years within the Southern Illinois University System in various leadership positions.
The program is for students at Confluence Academies who want to major in education in college. These students are able to earn college credits while in high school. The hope is that the charter school system school can ‘grow its own’ teachers by providing this opportunity.
