Barbara J. Johnson is the new executive vice president and provost at Talladega College in Alabama. Nicola Blake was appointed interim provost at Guttman Community College in New York City and Yolanda W. Page was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Savannah State University in Georgia.
Since 2018, Dr. Johnson has been serving as the first African American president of Phoenix College, a public community college in Maricopa County, Arizona. He will become president of Guttman Community College in Manhattan on July 1.
The honorees are Gilda Barabino dean of the School of Engineering at City College of New York, Karla Smith Fuller of Guttman Community College in New York City, and Yacob Astatke of the School of Engineering at Morgan State University in Baltimore.
The appointees are Mary E. Coleman at Guttman Community College, Nelson Townsend at Florida A&M University, Sandra Jowers at the University of the District of Columbia and Tricia Penniecook at Oakwood University.
