Delaware State University President to Lead White House’s HBCU Advisory Board

Dr. Tony Allen was appointed president of Delaware State University in 2020 after serving as provost for nearly three years. Before coming to Delaware State, Dr. Allen was head of the corporate reputation group for Bank of America. He is the former executive vice president of MBNA, the large banking and credit card company.

Historically Black Delaware State University has announced the launch of a new Financial Literacy Institute with support from Schwab Advisor Services in partnership with the Charles Schwab Foundation. The company has made a four-year commitment to facilitate the creation of the new program.

A Bump in the Road for Delaware State University’s Acquisition of Wesley College

A group of tenured faculty members at Wesley College have filed a lawsuit claiming that the acquisition of the college by historically Black Delaware State University breaches the contractual obligations the college made with its faculty. The suit also claims that the acquisition is also a fraudulent transfer of the assets of the college.

James L. Moore III Honored by the American Council on Education

James L. Moore III, vice provost for diversity and inclusion and chief diversity officer at Ohio State University, has been awarded the 2021 Reginald Wilson Diversity Leadership Award. The award honors individuals who have demonstrated leadership and commitment on a national level to the advancement of racial and ethnic minorities in higher education.

Delaware State to Launch a Doctoral Program in Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences

One aspect of the interdisciplinary nature of this program is that each student will be mentored by two advisors, each of whom will be from different but related science disciplines. Students will be required to do an internship outside of their dissertation research.
