The agreement will allow community college students who have completed their first two years of study and graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing to seamlessly transfer credit hours to Southern for completion of the online bachelor’s degree program.
Dr. Smith has led Baton Rouge Community College on an interim basis for the past 10 months. Before serving as interim chancellor at BRCC, he served as vice president for training and business partnerships at the college. He has worked in the Louisiana Community & Technical College System for the past 19 years.
Under the agreement, student at the community college who complete an associate’s degree in science will be able to transfer all credits and pursue a bachelor’s degree in the College of Sciences and Engineering at Southern University.
The board of trustees of Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock has named Howard O. Gibson as interim president. The board stated that it hoped to have a permanent new president by July 1. Since 2015, Dr. Gibson has served as the chief academic officer at the college.
Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib has been serving as vice chancellor for workforce development and technical education at Delgado Community College in Slidell, Louisiana. She will become chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College on January 2.
When she takes office on September 1, Dr. Miller will be the first woman president in the historically Black college’s 153-year history. Since 2012, Dr. Miller has been chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College in Louisiana.
Students who have successfully completed associate’s degrees in political science, psychology, history, criminal justice, business, and military science will be able to enroll in Southern University bachelor’s degree programs as juniors.
A partnership agreement allows students who have a completed an associate’s degree in computer science at Baton Rouge Community College to gain admittance to the bachelor’s degree program in computer science at Southern University.
Howard O. Gibson is the new associate vice president for student affairs, enrollment management, and diversity at Mississippi Valley State University. He was the executive assistant to the chancellor at Baton Rouge Community College in Louisiana.
Since 2006, Dr. Miller has been serving as chancellor of Sowela Technical Community College in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
