The data shows that the number of Black applicants to U.S. dental schools has declined by 7.5 percent over the past four years. In 2014, Blacks were 4.3 percent of all new students enrolling in U.S. dental schools. This is down slightly from recent years.
The students say that the seal, depicting three bushels of wheat, is an image taken from the family seal of Isaac Royall Jr. who donated his estate to endow the first professorship in law at Harvard. Royall owned slaves and was a slave trader.
In 2015, the number of Black applicants to U.S. medical schools was up a whopping 16.8 percent from 2014. Blacks were 7.6 percent of all medical school matriculants in 2015. This was up from 6.9 percent in 2014.

The study found that Black students were more likely to enroll in less selective law schools in 2013 than they were in 2010 and were less likely to enroll in highly selective law schools than they were in 2010.

Festus Ohan was removed from the care of his mother at the age of 5. When he was 13, his father abandoned him and one of his two sisters. He was placed in foster care. Only 2 percent of children placed in foster homes earn degrees from four-year colleges but Ohan beat the odds.
Leonard M. Baynes, a professor at the School of Law of St. John’s University in Queens, New York, has been selected as the next dean of the University of Houston Law Center. He will begin his new job on August 15.
In February 2014, Wendell Pritchett announced that he was joining the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Now the law school says he will serve as dean for the 2014-15 academic year.

The Black Student’s Guide To Law Schools lists Harvard Law School as the top law school for Blacks. Stanford University and the University of Chicago rank second and third. In fourth place is the law school at historically Black Howard University.
Currently, Dr. Broome is associate dean and chair of the department of community-mental health at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing. She will take on her new role in March 2014.
Professor Bridgeman is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Chicago Law School. She has served as associate dean of the University of Wyoming law school since 2010 and has been on the faculty since 2002.
