Alabama A&M to Partner With the U.S. Army in Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Alabama A&M University in Huntsville has signed an agreement with the U.S. Army that will benefit both institutions. The Army will gain the expertise of engineering faculty at the university and have access to independent research facilities. The university will benefit by exposing students to advanced research in unmanned aircraft systems and gain experience in a field which is expected to offer extensive employment opportunities for graduates in the field.

There are numerous military and civilian uses for unmanned aircraft systems. Civilian applications can include weather forecasting, law enforcement, traffic control, security, and humanitarian relief efforts.

Other universities that will be working on the project include Middle Tennessee State University, Mississippi State University, and Auburn University.
