PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide and coordinate reasonable accommodations, support services, and programs that enable students with disabilities to receive equal access to an education and all aspects of University life. Provide academic coaching, advising, and academic support to students with academic need.
BACKGROUND / SKILLS NECESSARY FOR POSITION:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, or related field is required. Master’s degree within the same disciplines or SAHE along with experience in higher education is preferred. Hands-on work experience with and a strong interest in at-risk student populations, neurodivergent learners, or individuals with a disability who are adolescent or young adults is strongly preferred. Strong communication skills are required. Proficiency with technology products such as Microsoft Office, Apple, and Google is essential. Experience with assistive technology, data management, record keeping, and supervising or leading within a team or group is desirable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Coordinate accommodations including student testing needs and classroom note takers.
- Provide academic coaching/advising to aid in the development and growth of each student in their academic, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and physical development as supported in the Seton Hill University Mission Statement.
- Stay current with the Seton Hill University Office of Disability Services (ODS) procedures and with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADA Reauthorization Act of 2018 (ADAA), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act legal decisions, especially as related to higher education.
- Provide information to assist students with disabilities in their transition to the University and persist through graduation.
- Maintain confidential student services files and compile required reports.
- Serve as a resource to the entire University community in supporting students with a disability to include in and out of the classroom needs, ensuring compliance with the guidelines set by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, ADA, and ADAA.
- Participate in the planning and facilitation of the Summer Bridge Program.
- Assist in maintaining the objectives and plan of operation for the TRIO Student Support Services program.
- Supervise ODS student workers.
