Ron K. Patterson Appointed the Twelfth President of Chadron State College in Nebraska

The board of trustees for the Nebraska State Colleges announced that Ron K. Patterson will be the twelfth president of Chadron State College. He will take office on July 1.

Chadron State College enrolls 1,800 undergraduate students and 450 graduate students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 4 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be selected to serve as the president of Chadron State College,” Dr. Patterson said. “Chadron State College is a special place, and I look forward to joining the strong team of dedicated faculty and staff to continue to enhance the lives and experiences of our students, their families, and the community. The mission, vision, and values align well with my purpose and commitment to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community. My steadfast commitment is to the student experience, establishing connections with alumni, and community members to ensure their success, while building on the exciting future of Chadron State College.”

Dr. Patterson has been serving as vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion and director of the presidential mentor’s academy at the University of North Alabama in Florence. He joined the staff there in 2016. Previously he served as vice president for enrollment management at Marietta College in Ohio, director of admissions and enrollment services at the University of Central Arkansas, and director of admissions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.

Dr. Patterson is a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Southern in Pulaski. He holds a master’s degree from Marietta College and a doctorate in higher education leadership and administration from Creighton University in Omaha.
