Job Description:

The Library is seeking applications for the position of Senior Library Technologist – Digital Technologies – Digital Records, Projects and Application Support. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing skilled tasks in support of the ongoing maintenance, enrichment, and improvement of the Library’s systems maintained by Digital Technologies that support research, digital preservation, teaching, and scholarship, including the various web archiving tools, the digital repository, digital exhibitions, and course reserves.

This is a full time fully remote eligible position as member of the Library’s bargaining unit staff.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs data cleanup on a variety of DT systems and Digital Preservation projects to ensure content is displayed consistently and with a high degree of integrity
  • Participates in digital project implementation for digital preservation and online exhibitions
  • Assists Digital Preservation staff with metadata normalization and ingestion of digital assets into appropriate digital repositories
  • Assists with digital exhibition application support and projects
  • Inventories and documents public-facing content, in collaboration with developers/programmers
  • Participates with Digital Preservation staff on web archiving through crawling and quality assurance
  • Triages help and feedback requests from users of outward facing systems in DT
  • Gathers and tracks usage data across the various DT systems
  • Performs software testing scenarios in collaboration with DT developers as needed;
  • Provides support services to others performing user testing
  • Assists with producing end-user documentation and training materials in all formats in collaboration with developers
  • Performs related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in information technology or related field; or two-year college degree with an emphasis on information or computer technology and two years equivalent experience; or four years equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in data normalization, cleanup and refinement (using data tools such as OpenRefine, Excel, scripts, macros, etc.)
  • Experience with common programming/scripting languages; experience with content management systems desirable
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to learn new technologies and systems necessary for continued effective job performance
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact favorably with co-workers and library users
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment and to actively participate in team-based decision-making
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately with reasonable speed
  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
