Job Description:
The Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies in the School of Public Health (CAAS) seeks a full-time Research Assistant to assist the Project Manager, Research Scientist, and PI with a number of research related activities.
The Research Assistant will be performing research primarily on National Institutions of Health (NIH) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funded research projects aimed at increasing evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder among people with criminal legal involvement. Under the direction of the PI and the project coordinator, the Research Assistant will provide support for onsite and offsite/field research activities and be involved in various stages of the implementation of interventions. The Research Assistant will work closely with the research team and participants to ensure the project is completed successfully. These responsibilities include, but not are limited to, assisting in participant screening and recruitment, study visit preparation, data collection through surveys, interviews, and drug screens, data quality assurance and analysis, keeping tracking logs, and creating materials for participants. The position also performs additional related tasks as necessary. The current study will randomly assign individuals under community supervision to receive services from peer support specialists vs. no peer support. The project aims to test the independent and combined effects of organizational and client-level linkage strategies on outcomes including linkage to OUD treatment, retention, opioid use, opioid overdoses, recidivism, and utilization of recovery services.

Education and Experience
- Required: BA or BS in psychology or related field with 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Coursework in addiction, substance use disorders, research design and experience with research is preferred.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Experience managing databases is preferred.
- Familiarity with APA formatting is preferred.
- Flexibility in work schedule is required, including evening or possible weekend hours on an intermittent basis.
- Must have own transportation.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 4/30/25 which may be extended based upon available funding.
