Job Description:
The School of Engineering at Brown University has a new and exciting opportunity to hire an Administrative Coordinator for its new Initiative for Sustainable Energy.
The Initiative for Sustainable Energy (ISE) is a new interdisciplinary enterprise focused on advancing research, innovation, and education in the field of sustainable energy.
The Administrative Coordinator serves as the principal staff administrator of the ISE. The main functions are to provide administrative support for: smooth day-to-day operation of the ISE; communications; events planning/management; and faculty research and teaching activities. The incumbent serves the ISE Director and the Deputy Director.
The successful candidate, as a minimum, should have the following background:
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education. Business Administration, Communications, or Accounting preferred.
- 3 years’ experience in a combination of business, communications, and research administration (preferably in academia or not‐for‐profit) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Higher-Education or non-profit work experience preferred.

- Ability to organize, prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a multi‐task, multi‐faceted work environment while maintaining careful attention to detail.

- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs, Web-based programs, and tools.
- Excellent customer service skills and a strong service-oriented attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, to elicit and communicate information, to analyze data, and to prepare/present clear, informative, and concise materials.
- File management skills.
- Willingness and interest to assume increasing responsibilities, networking, leadership and training opportunities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Must be able to work with a diverse population and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
