Job Description:

This position manages all administrative aspects of the graduate program for the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic & Psychological Sciences (CLPS). The incumbent serves a critical administrative role by working with the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) as well as with the Graduate School, Office of the Dean of the College, Registrar, and Admission offices, and graduate students to implement curricular directives and mandates and meet program goals. This position also manages all centralized and statistical source files on students and programs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and two to three years related experience with graduate student processes, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications, with database experience preferred.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, management and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people with tact and diplomacy.
  • Willingness and interest in assuming increasing levels of responsibilities, networking, leadership, and training opportunities
  • Highly proficient in Excel applications (data manipulations); MS Excel and Google Docs preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to elicit and disperse information; to present information (including data) and communications in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong organizational, administrative, time management and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment
  • Flexible, service-oriented and resourceful
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a multi-tasking environment while maintaining careful attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
