Salary range: The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay based on prior months of postdoc service (both domestic and international) before the start of the appointment.
See Table 23 and 23N (Hourly) for experience level minimums. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $60,000- $71,952. Salaries that are higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated experience level minimum, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description
The Center for Black Studies Research at the University of California Santa Barbara seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellowship on research related to African American Studies, Black Studies, African diaspora, social movements, engaged scholarship, or urban studies. 25% of the fellowship is devoted to developing the Center’s programs and mentoring undergraduate research. The fellowship will provide a salary based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Research and travel allowance and health insurance will be provided. The Center is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research and service.Department: https://cbsr.ucsb.edu/
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
The minimum requirement to be considered an applicant is the completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. except the dissertation (ABD status) in Black Studies, Social Sciences, STEM, Health, Humanities or Arts at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Ph.D. conferral by appointment start date.
Research in at least one area specializing in Black Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts & STEM with a focus on Black communities across the African diaspora.Preferred qualifications
- Experience mentoring student researchers
- Knowledge and experience in quantitative or qualitative methodologies
- Ability to interact and work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to work with undergraduates
- Ability to work independently
