About the Opportunity:
The local human resources team supporting a portfolio of units within the Office of the Provost seeks to add a new member. We partner with units to understand their operational needs and provide HR support for their success.

Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Specialist serves as the key HR liaison for a portfolio of units within the Office of the Provost, reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources and collaborating closely with colleagues in University Human Resources.

The Human Resources Specialist has a comprehensive understanding of all Human Resources-related processes and serves as an advisor to the HR Director on a variety of HR functions including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, policy and procedure administration, equity reviews, job audits, and salary recommendations.  The HR Specialist consults in conjunction with the Director and University Human Resources on all employment related functions, and serves as a point of contact within a collection of units reporting to the Office of the Provost resolving day-to-day issues and triaging employee and labor relations issues to the Director as needed.  The HR Specialist provides information on Brown University Human Resources protocols to supervisors and managers, provides HR policy guidance and interpretation, and is the key point of contact for employment inquiries.  Serves as the Workday liaison for the units, providing guidance to managers and in-unit staff for all Workday processes including regular communications, resources, and trainings.

Qualifications:
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience

Experience

  • 2-4 years of human resources or related experience (Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Google docs/forms
  • Experience with a HRIS database; prior experience with the Workday system is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills in order to effectively communicate while prioritizing in meeting deadlines.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and show discretion when dealing with information of a sensitive nature
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent customer service skills; effective oral and written communication skills

Additional Information:
