Director, Penn State Admissions – Pittsburgh

Penn State's Multicultural Outreach Office seeks to create a diverse student body through access and exposure to Penn State opportunities and resources. We are seeking candidates for the role of Director, Penn State Admissions – Pittsburgh (Student Advocacy Manager 4). The successful candidate will be responsible to the Director of Diversity Outreach and Admissions for the operation of the Penn State Admissions – Pittsburgh Outreach (APO) office.
The Director, Penn State Admissions – Pittsburgh will:
- Plan and manage the recruitment of students to Penn State with an emphasis on underserved populations in and around the Pittsburgh area.
- Implement policies and promote public relations activities within the community to enhance the Penn State brand.
- Oversee the operation of the APO office comprised of one recruiter and one staff assistant.
- Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate regional admissions and recruitment efforts with an emphasis on underrepresented student populations.
- Supervise assigned staff which includes Assistant Director and Staff Support.
- Analyze application trends, acceptance rates and other related data for assigned geographical area.
- Maintain various records, analyze information, and prepare reports.
- Act as liaison to representatives of secondary schools regarding Penn State admission policies and procedures for counseling purposes.
- Attend meetings and related activities. Serve on committees, speak at meetings, conferences, groups, etc.
- Review policies and procedures; recommend changes.
- Implement and conduct innovative and non-traditional recruitment methods within the community and region.
- Maintain relationships with campuses within assigned area and build collaborative programming.
Education and experience:
Typically requires a Master's degree or high, plus eight years of work-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience should include budget management and supervisory experience. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects is required. The ability to communicate, collaborate, and work well with others is essential. Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is desired. Experience with SLATE, DocFinity, PeopleSoft is desired
Background checks:
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
