Brown University — Administrative Coordinator

Job Description:

This position provides a high level of support to the dynamic needs of the Center for Animal Resources and Education (CARE) veterinarian and research services team. This includes providing strategic sourcing of goods for medical procedures, inventory of research consumables, and equipment lifecycle management. Provide administrative oversight of regulatory activities to support compliance initiatives within animal care facilities. Serve as a primary point of contact for the Veterinarian Director and Veterinarian Staff. Manages CARE’s calendars, scheduling, and coordination of reoccurring meetings. Will help oversee and maintain the department websites and newsletters. Serve as the department lead for initial implementation and ongoing training and management of the new vivarium software system.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years related administrative experience working in a research facility.
  • Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies:

  • Proficiency with standard office application software (Microsoft Office), spreadsheet, database, Google docs, Qualtrics and other survey tools, calendaring required.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think and act independently and handle competing priorities.
  • Commitment to learn new technologies and other online platforms to increase department efficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially record keeping and organization.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must maintain calm, respectful and professional at all times.
  • Commitment to customer service, engagement, and time management.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
