The Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University is searching for a motivated and customer-focused Administrative Coordinator to join its Master of Public Affairs team.

The Administrative Coordinator for MPA Admissions and Alumni Engagement interacts with a broad range of constituents, both internal and external to the University. The role will support MPA recruitment and admissions operations, and will also support professional development services and alumni affairs operations.

Responsibilities within admissions and recruitment will include: managing bookings, set-up, and registrations for admissions events, maintaining the program website and online channels (including social media), responding to inquiries and undertaking email/phone follow up as necessary, and producing tracking reports on admissions data.

Responsibilities within professional development and alumni affairs will include: data mining alumni and career outcome trends, supporting MPA alumni, supporting student and alumni volunteers, responding to inquiries from alumni and employers, event support, generating and maintaining reporting related to career and alumni outcomes.

This position reports to the Associate Director, Admissions and Recruitment, and will also receive direction from the Associate Director, Professional Development and Alumni Engagement when supporting this work.

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of related administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit setting preferred.
  • Experience in customer service role preferred.

  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Professional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
  • Familiarity with graduate and international student populations preferred.
