About the Opportunity:
Brown University is undergoing a tremendous growth in the arts, with newly appointed leadership for the Brown Arts Institute, and the state of the art, one of a kind Lindemann Performing Arts Center scheduled to open in Fall 2023. Brown seeks to fulfill its ambitious vision for the arts as an integral presence throughout a liberal arts education. Responsibilities:
We seek to hire an Executive Assistant for the Brown Arts Institute (BAI) who has an in-depth understanding of Institute issues and how they support the University. The position serves as a central liaison between Senior Leadership, department staff, faculty, and other constituents with whom the department interacts. The Executive Assistant pro-actively organizes the Directors’ schedules, staffs meetings, manages various administrative functions, and monitors critical phases of important projects.  This position is also relied upon to research, analyze and write reports to effectively support the work of the BAI Senior Leadership which includes independent project management.

It is important that the Executive Assistant take proactive measures to become and remain informed about the programs of the BAI and its affiliated departments.  The BAI is a dynamic and growing organization, with three Directors, each of who has demanding schedules and areas of responsibility. The Executive Assistant will often be tasked with finding acceptable and creative solutions to challenges, and to keeping BAI leadership informed along the way. The BAI is poised for a period of growth and expansion, and the Executive Assistant must be able to keep up with the demand of this fast-paced environment. Some evening and weekend work may be required; limited travel may be necessary.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience

  • Associates degree plus at least three years of administrative experience, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Experience in an academic or non-profit arts setting preferred.
