Senior Enrollment Analytics Analyst

The Enrollment Management division is seeking a Senior Enrollment Analytics Analyst to help lead data analytics functions for a newly created Enrollment Analytics and Strategic Insights Unit that is charged with aggregating and leveraging data to fuel and frame enrollment policy, practice and strategy implementation across the entirety of the student lifecycle. Such analysis contributes to efforts to elevate and enhance the market position and profile of the institution through the development and implementation of a more data-informed approach to marketing, recruitment, and retention strategy.and practice.

More than perhaps any other factor, the degree to which a university attracts and retains qualified students determines the success or failure of that institution. The newly created Enrollment Management (EM) division is a key player in this activity and has a profound effect on the institution's success. The division is committed to developing a data-informed, forward-looking, comprehensive enrollment strategy that enables the institution to pursue strategic goals in an integrated and intentional manner.


  • Support tracking and analysis and enhance accountability by developing set of standardized reports, interactive dashboards, integrations and data visualizations to monitor market and student enrollment, retention and graduation trends and key performance indicators
  • Continually refine the availability, quality and utilization of enrollment information for decision making using both 3rd party (National Student Clearinghouse, IPED, College Board, ACT) as well as internal data
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate cross-functional data projects in collaboration with functional areas to analyze trends, forecast and provide data sets
  • Coach and manage the EM Analytics and Strategic Insights team to include development of a comprehensive EM research agenda and accompanying research calendar designed to deliver actionable intelligence to drive the business processes of enrollment management
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure effective yield models, advise admissions and financial aid decisions and provide internal estimates of first-year and transfer enrollments
  • Create and maintain statistical models of student persistence through the university and use those models to simulate the effect of proposed changes to practice, as well as make short–term and long-term enrollment projections
  • Participate in environmental scans to analyze market and labor trends, market competition and student enrollment trends in the state of Pennsylvania, nationally and globally
  • Build queries to extract and aggregate data from various sources, including student database and CRM systems, other University offices, the University data warehouse, as well as external agencies and institutions
  • Monitor and clean large data sets to ensure reporting efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with internal partners to identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues to create a common understanding of enrollment data analysis and reporting, definitions and best practices
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision-making. Discover and communicate significant patterns, trends, and stories with enrollment data; provide recommendations based on analysis
  • Support the creation of predictive models across all phase of the student lifecycle to assist leadership and operational staff with planning, resource allocation and operational decisions Provide actionable intelligence to key internal stakeholders on the availability and use of models to achieve desired enrollment outcomes

Education and experience:

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

The individual in this position must understand the uses of student information within a university setting and work to enhance the quality and utility of the data produced from various systems. Strong technical and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to think critically and analytically, work independently and handle multiple tasks. The ability to distill and convey findings clearly is a critical component of the work. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of demonstrated proficiency in data analysis, predictive modeling, data visualization, and reporting, with experience cleaning and manipulating large, complex datasets preferably in admissions, financial aid, or with other student records
  • Advanced practical experience with BI and data analysis software (Tableau, PowerBI, SAS, SPSS, Excel, etc.) required. Proficiency using SQL to query data stored in relational databases strongly preferred. Programming experience (e.g., R, Python, SAS) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data structures and common methods of data extraction and transformation
  • Experience with relational databases required; student information systems and customer relationship systems is a plus
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize patterns, and present informed recommendations to support decision making in a clear and concise manner to non-technical and diverse audiences including faculty, staff and executive officials
  • Strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to think critically, work independently, work collaboratively and solve problems creatively
  • Excellent data visualization, report preparation, and written communication skills; ability to summarize and present analytic findings in ways that are accessible to non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated curiosity and persistence in navigating technical challenges
  • Understanding of federal and institutional regulations, procedures and guidelines involved in handling sensitive data
  • Commitment to diversity and success in working with diverse constituencies to support data analytics and an equitable and inclusive environment
