Emory University — Open Rank Tenure-Track Positions in Visual Arts

Emory University seeks to hire two tenure-track faculty members at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, as part of a multi-year initiative to build our program offerings in the visual arts. The two positions will teach in Emory’s Integrated Visual Arts Co-Major (IVAC), which is housed in the Department of Film and Media in Emory College of Arts and Sciences. We are searching for two visionary artist-scholars to help lead efforts to conceptualize and implement a 2D program for undergraduate students. We are particularly interested in individuals whose research-based creative practices engage with vital concerns across the College, including but not limited to the other arts, the social and natural sciences, environmental studies, the nature of representation, social justice, and AI. Successful candidates will have an established record of excellence in college or university teaching and a record or trajectory of creative work that is nationally and/or internationally recognized via peer-reviewed (juried) exhibitions, awards, and/or publications. Demonstrated leadership experience or potential is highly desired. The candidates will each teach two courses per semester in areas that complement our current strengths in photography and sculpture, such as drawing, painting, or printmaking. They will also be invited to develop new courses that reflect their research and practice. Emory College of Arts and Sciences is a liberal arts college within a top-ranked research university located in the southeastern hub of Atlanta, GA. In addition to the Integrated Visual Arts Co-Major program, Emory’s Department of Film and Media offers a minor and a major in Film and Media, and a media production minor.
