Department Profile
The Division of Kinesiology, which encompasses Adapted Physical Education, Athletics, Dance, Health, Kinesiology and Physical Education. Our division is designed to give students the knowledge necessary to develop lifestyles that will lengthen and enhance the quality of their lives. Kinesiology, formally known as HPEDA, offers an array of online and on campus opportunities in traditional lecture format and laboratory classes that focus on activity, participation and hands-on learning. Students can complete degrees and certificates in the discipline of Kinesiology.
The Department of Kinesiology provides opportunities for students to engage in the understanding of body movement and fitness. Courses are designed to introduce students to various aspects of kinesiology, such as athletic injury assessment, principles of fitness and wellness, sports psychology, and movement analysis. Along with our Associate of Art Degree in Kinesiology, we also offer the Fitness Specialist and Athletic Trainer Aide Certificate Programs. These certificates are interrelated and are designed to be completed in two semesters for students who attend full time. Students may also successfully prepare for several national certifications in fitness, strength and conditioning, and athletic training. Each program will also provide students with transfer options in various areas of study.

1. Tests and exams must be available to the student without charge.
2. The text and course pack must be available to students with disabilities.

If these four conditions are not met, the electronic textbook cannot be used.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education
OR
Bachelor's degree in any of the above
AND
Master's degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy
OR the equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in a college setting in the area of Kinesiology, specifically in the area(s) of athletic training, CPR/First Aid and Fitness.
Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC), formally the NATABOC, representing Certification as an Athletic Trainer.
Red Cross Instructor Certificate for CPR/First Aid
NASM, ACE or ACSM personal trainer or equivalent

Physical Demand
Physical requirements may be met with or without reasonable accommodations. Requires ambulatory ability to move to various office and classroom-type locations. Ability to operate classroom equipment, including computer, and provide instruction and make presentations. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals or groups to carry on complex or routine conversations. Requires the ability to lift, push, and pull objects of medium weight (less than 30 lbs.) on an occasional basis.
Salary/Fringe Benefits
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Salary rate is: $79,401- $121,920/annual.
Health and welfare benefits include District contribution for medical/dental/vision benefits and employee life insurance ($50,000). (Cash-in-lieu option available on medical insurance.)
Participation in the State Teachers' Retirement System.
Conditions of Employment
This is a tenure-track contract position. Contract will be for 10 school months for the academic year beginning fall semester 2023.
Participation in a pre-service orientation and/or probationary in-service training is required.
Individual who is offered employment shall be required to obtain fingerprints for a criminal history clearance through the State Department of Justice and remit the required fee for processing the fingerprints, produce an original social security card, and submit negative TB test results (must be within the past four years or within the last 60 days if not previously employed in a school district in California) before employment.
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and signing of loyalty oath per Government Codes 3100-3109.
Board Policy 2905 will require mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations as a condition of employment. Selection Procedure

Interviews will then be conducted by the selection committee, and finalists will be recommended for further consideration by the President-Superintendent for final selection and recommendation for employment. The selection process may also include practical exercises (i.e., teaching demonstration and/or other written, technical, manipulative, or simulation exercises) to evaluate candidates' qualifications.
