Job Description:

The Continuing Medical Education (CME) will develop, manage and administer a wide range of continuing medical education activities that support the professional development of health care providers. This high-profile role serves to enhance the Office of Continuing Medical Education’s ability to meet its mission, increase visibility and broaden its scope of offerings. The CME Coordinator will collaborate with the CME Director, Course Directors, Planners, Faculty, and educational partners to produce live and enduring activities, that are in compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accreditation standards, the American Medical Association (AMA) CME credit guidelines, other health professions continuing education accreditation requirements, and Brown CME policies. The individual in this position will liaise with other offices and programs as needed to support the professional development of providers at Brown and beyond.

The Warren Alpert Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians. The CME Office (OCME) supports the professional development of health care providers by providing evidence-based educational opportunities that contribute to quality health care. The OCME sponsors more than three hundred medical education activities annually in a wide range of clinical disciplines. Activity formats include live lectures/conferences, skills-based workshops, regularly scheduled series, internet live and internet enduring courses. Educational activities address the needs and professional practice gaps of our target audience and are planned to change physician competence or performance or patient outcomes. The target audience includes multi-disciplinary medical professionals who practice in Rhode Island as well as throughout the U.S. and worldwide.

Job Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree required plus 1-2 years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies:

  • Familiarity with CME/CE accreditation requirements preferred
  • Strong project management skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, organize/orchestrate details of several ongoing events.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • High level of professionalism a must.
  • Excellent written and communication, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and finances.
  • Experience negotiating contracts with hotels.
  • Meeting management or event planning experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use programs such as Word, Excel, Qualtrics, Google Suite.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed and available for occasional weekend and/or extended hours.
  • Experience or willingness to learn Workday and CME learning management system software required.
  • Must be flexible and willing to learn office policies and processes.
  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
